Saros series 136 has featured the longest total eclipses in centuries. East of here in the middle of the Sahara, totality lasted over 7 minutes. Middle clouds passed across the eclipse about 40 minutes before, but the eclipse itself occurred through sand haze. Later in the day, temperatures rose to 54C followed by a sandstorm and a trace of rain.
