Solar activity can render the solar corona into wierd shapes. I expected a round corona, not one that at first glance resembled the corona at solar minimum. Note, however, that north in this image is up. The cooling of mid-level humid air created the clouds.
This eclipse belongs to Saros series 136, as are the 1973 and 2009 eclipses. Maximum duration of totality, slightly less than 7 minutes, occurred just east of my location. Many astronomers looked forward to this eclipse; totality will not last this long until the mid-22nd century.
