Many people make the effort to see the longer-duration eclipses. However, the shorter total eclipses are also very much worth observing. Totality lasted only 41 seconds that morning.

The moon here appears just slightly larger than the sun because of its distance from Earth. For this series of eclipses, in the future, the moon's distance from Earth will increase. The totality part of each eclipse path will decrease and the moon will not entirely cover the sun along greater lengths of the path, thus producing annular or ring eclipses.
