The last or first piece of solar photosphere (the sun one normally sees) seen through valleys on the lunar limb (edge of the moon's disk) is called the diamond ring. A French woman witnessing the 1912 annular-total eclipse suppsedly compared what she saw to a diamond solitaire engagement ring.

This time, it just so happened that there were two valleys of equal depth on the lunar limb as seen from our location. One of my motorized cameras just caught the right moment with nice diffraction spikes.

It just so happened that I gave my wife a double (Herkimer) diamond ring on our engagement a month before the eclipse.
